Health - Class 83 & 84
As you may be aware the curriculum for Health Education in Ontario has changed. We will be revisiting some past concepts and developing a deeper understanding this year. The focus of our Grade 8's this year in Health, is to make important decisions that pertain to ones self. We will learn methods and skills and on how to respond to matters related to sexuality, drug use, and safety, to name a few.
We will discuss and look into the following topics: respect for life, ethical questions in relationships, and contraception, amongst other things.
There will be homework, assignments and projects, so make sure to keep track your work and your due dates.

mental health
Mental Health really encompasses so much. As we have discussed in class we feel as though Mental Health really touches upon so much and there is always more and more being added to the discussion.
We will be looking at different diagnosis's and a wide range of support systems that are available to anyone who may be needing a bit of extra support.
We will be creating posters to bring attention to developing strong mental health and developing ways of recognizing and coping with mental health.

As we have discussed in class, safety means many different things.
We can be talking about environmental safety, road safety, being safe in cars, planes, buses, bikes. Being safe while out enjoying a night with your friends, while at a concert, or sporting event. It looks like many different things and that's what we will be investigating in our unit.
In partners you will be giving a safety presentation to the class about a chosen topic.
