## Math Class

Welcome to Grade 8 Math!

This year we are going to be reviewing that basics of what you should already know, BEDMAS anyone?

Put on your thinking caps and try to remember what you've already done so that we can build on it and learn new things. Math can make sense and it does have everyday applications, just wait and see.

## What we have going on and on going

We are going to drive into the world of numbers. Everyday, everywhere we see numbers and we think that we know what they actually mean, but we're going to finally get to the bottom of it.

Don't be afraid to learn new things and definitely don't be afraid to ask questions.

Be prepared to be challenged and make sure to come prepared with a sharp pencil and mind!

**Lets Get Back to the Basics**- we are going to start at the beginning and work our way up. I keep saying it, you are all great mathematicians perhaps you just haven't been taught in the best way you learn as of yet, give it chance and you will succeed. We are going to start with looking at patterns in numbers, something you already do everyday and just didn't know it yet. Then we'll hop on over to powers, exponents and powers of ten. Scientific Notation may seem scary, but you'll learn quickly that it's a nice easy way to write down either really really big numbers or itty bitty tiny numbers. Then we're moving into orders of operation, good ol' BEDMAS, and that's where we are finding ourselves currently, among the rules and procedures of the math how to's.

To make it fun we're going to make a little fun. Lets get our hands dirty with some board games.
